When I started Attitude Organic, I was very much ANTI-Black Friday. No sale, NEVER. I did not believe that Sustainable Black Friday could be a thing. My first years in business – as an ethical business owner – were marked by a strong anti-capitalist message:
“Black Friday pushes humanity to over consume goods and services that they do NOT need, generates a huge amount of waste and contributes to destroying people’s sense of self because of superficial media.”
In the past 2 years, I have refined my thoughts and nuanced my point of view. I noticed that Black Friday was actually massively supportive for some conscious and frugal consumers. If you are very mindful about your consumption patterns and their impact on Mother Earth, some sales make sense.
How Can We Really Have A Black Friday?
Let me explain!
If you made a wishlist, that you diligently waited for months to make sure that you needed what was on that list, and that you are a bit short in cash, Black Friday is an opportunity for a good deal – considering of course that the purchase is made following ethical and eco-friendly “guidelines”.

My point is:
- Could we see a sustainable world without financial sustainability?
- Could we see a sustainable world without amazing changemakers making the most of their money?
I highly doubt it!
How I Decided To Celebrate It?
When I realized that Sustainable Black Friday could be a thing, my mindset shifted. I started flirting with the idea of celebrating a new type of Black Friday with my community. Why could not I offer to coach you, who have been on the fence about working with me, at even more accessible rates?
That’s when detrimental narratives came up…In the coaching industry they say:
- “Don’t discount your services, know your worth!”. BUT I can know my worth and be willing to give to people. Giving people special offers doesn’t devalue me or my work! Is a pair of vegan boots less valuable when bought in sales?!! Certainly not!
- “Don’t buy into disempowering stories about one’s capability to make money, coach them in their resourcefulness!” I hear that, I see that, I have done that and it has been such a gift for some of my clients. BUT I can also see that these statements turn a blind eye on many social inequalities and systemic issues.
I decided to say: “f**k that”!
It’s time to reject these narratives that some online gurus made up to create my own.
Let’s have fun all together.
Let’s try coaching all together.
